  Rob Johnston

Rob Johnston is a unique guitarist who blends a brilliant technique with different playing styles and influences. He performs at the cutting edge of an evolving tradition of acoustic guitar playing that stretches from Bert Jansch to Pierre Bensusan drawing on classical, world and folk roots. His compositions and songs will take you into unusual musical territory, evading comparison or familiarity.

He has a long history of professional music making, composing and recording in such diverse fields as music for contemporary dance, theatre and film as well as being a performer and teacher on the guitar.

He holds a B.A. and M.A, degree in Music and Art. His commissions have included amongst others work for Northern Ballet Theatre and Channel 4 TV.

His current CD reflects his passion for writing for guitar as well as song-writing. As well as a musician, Rob is also a practising visual-artist balancing the two over many years of professional creative output.

He has performed at Art Centres, Theatres, Folk Clubs and major Acoustic Festivals and events across Britain, as well as live broadcasts on radio.
